Reds load up on pitchers in draft
The Reds completed the second day of the draft Wednesday by selecting 18 pitchers in the final 30 rounds, giving them 27 pitchers in 50 total rounds.
Local players taken on the second day included LaSalle High and Wright State pitcher Joe Powers (23rd round, 696th) to the Reds; Hamilton High and University of Cincinnati pitcher Curtus Moak (25th round, 756th pick) to the Reds; Miami outfielder Clark Mace (28th round, 848th) to the Diamondbacks; and Highlands High and UC catcher Chris Hamblen (35th round, 1,066th) to the Giants.
