Reds-Brewers Scouting Report

        • The series: The Reds (21-34, fifth place in the National League Central) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (29-26, third place in NL Central).

        • When: Today, 8:05 p.m.; Wednesday, 8:05 p.m..

        • Where: at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

        • Radio: WLW.

        • TV: Fox Sports Net, today.

        • The bats: The Brewers are fifth in the NL in hitting and fourth in runs scored. The big three — Jeromy Burnitz (14 home runs, 41 RBI), Richie Sexson (10 HR, 37 RBI) and Geoff Jenkins ((10 HR, 30 RBI) — have been productive. Mark Loretta comes in on a 12-game hitting streak and is hitting .360 overall.

        • The arms:

        Today, right-hander Chris Reitsma (2-5, 4.14) vs. right-hander Allen Levrault (2-1, 4.62).

        Tuesday, right-hander Elmer Dessens (4-2, 4.36) vs. right-hander Jimmy Haynes (5-6, 4.50).

The Brewers rate fourth in the NL in ERA. Former Red David Weathers is pitching well. He has a 1.74 ERA and three saves.

        • The rest: The Brewers are tough at their new park (19-10). They took three straight from the Reds in April to open the place. One of the big reasons for the Brewers' success is they've caught the ball. They lead the NL in fielding. They've made only 27 errors compared to 53 for the Reds.
