Bowden: Not looking to break up core
Reds don't have veterans to move
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Reds would seem to be a perfect team for a fire sale. They are hanging on the edge of contention with four months of baseball to play. The only problem is they have nothing to sell.
This isn't a veteran team filled with free agents, Reds general manager Jim Bowden said. We've got one free agent Pete Harnisch and he's on the disabled list.
Bowden said the Reds' young core Sean Casey, Dmitri Young, Pokey Reese, Aaron Boone, Danny Graves won't be traded just because this year's team is struggling.
We're not looking to break that up, Bowden said.
