Bell hit in head by line drive
Injury not serious as right-hander suffers bruise
By Chris Haft
The Cincinnati Enquirer
CHICAGO Further proof this is destined to be an unlucky year for the Reds came Thursday when another injury occurred not in the game but during batting practice, when a batted ball beaned Rob Bell and left him with a bruise.
Fortunately, it wasn't serious. But it was scary. Sean Casey hit a soft line drive to right field as Bell leaned over to pick up another ball. Casey's liner struck Bell squarely above the forehead, knocking him to the Wrigley Field grass.
Bell was immediately surrounded by teammates, coaches and general manager Jim Bowden.
It doesn't hurt, as far as a headache, Bell said. My hairline will cover it up, at least what's left of it.
