Boone to miss 3 to 4 weeks
Larson may come up, but Castro to start

The Reds' injury bug continued to spread Tuesday as third baseman Aaron Boone went on the 15-day disabled list and is expected to miss three to four weeks with a broken hamate bone in his right hand.
Boone, who was injured when he was hit by a fifth-inning pitch from Houston's Wade Miller on Monday, underwent surgery Tuesday night. Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek and hand specialist Dr. Greg Sommerkamp performed the 45-minute procedure at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Though X-rays taken on Boone's hand Monday night were negative, a subsequent CT scan revealed the fracture.
Cincinnati has five key players on the disabled list: Boone, center fielder Ken Griffey Jr., and right-handers Seth Etherton, Pete Harnisch and Scott Williamson.
The Reds will replace Boone by recalling third baseman Brandon Larson, their 1997 first-round draft choice, from Triple-A Louisville. Larson began Tuesday batting .248 with two homers and 13 RBI, though he was hitting .538 (7-for-13) in his previous three games. Larson received a one-day promotion May 4 and popped up as a pinch hitter.
Outfield prospect Adam Dunn, who began Tuesday hitting .338 with 10 homers and 29 RBI at Double-A Chattanooga, was promoted to Louisville to take Larson's spot.
Manager Bob Boone said utilityman Juan Castro will receive most of the playing time at third. Asked how comfortable he was with Castro there, Bob Boone said, I better be really comfortable.
Aaron Boone had been the only player to appear in the Reds' first 37 games, start ing all but one. He was hitting .284 and was tied for second on the team in home runs (five) and RBI (21).
It's the opportunity to build character. All of ours. Aaron's included, Bob Boone said.
Aaron Boone described his discomfort by saying he had trouble with the simplest things, like pushing a knob to open the door, washing your hair, getting dressed. It's really sore. I can't even pick up a bat, let alone think about swinging it.
