Reds-Brewers Scouting Report

When: 8:05p.m. today; 2:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.         Where: Miller Park, Milwaukee.

        Radio: WLW-AM (700).

        Reds TV: None.

Records: Cincinnati 2-2, second place Central Division; Milwaukee 0-4, sixth place Central Division.

Probable starters: Friday, RHP Rob Bell (7-8, 5.00 ERA in 2000) vs. RHP Jeff D'Amico (12-7, 2.66); Saturday, RHP Pete Harnisch (0-0, 4.50) vs. RHP Jamey Wright (0-1, 1.29); Sunday, RHP Osvaldo Fernandez (1-0, 2.84) vs. RHP Jimmy Haynes (0-1, 24.00).

The bats: Richie Sexson (.306, four homers, nine RBI) and Ron Belliard (.372) were Milwaukee's top hitters against the Reds last year. Outfielders Jeromy Burnitz and Geoff Jenkins homered four times apiece against the Reds in 2000.

The arms: Haynes had a 7.15 ERA against Cincinnati last year but somehow won both of his starts. Wright had a strong effort on Opening Day at Houston, allowing just one run and five hits in seven innings.

The rest: Milwaukee has stood between the Reds and success in recent seasons. The Brewers beat Cincinnati two out of three to end the regular season in 1999, preventing the Reds from winning the National League wild-card spot. Last August, after the Reds had won five of six, Milwaukee posted a three-game sweep at County Stadium.
