Tigers 5, Reds 4

The arms: Minor-leaguer Lance Davis, a highly regarded prospect, blew a 4-3 lead in the ninth.

The bats: The Reds broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth. Chris Sexton lined a single off Detroit's Matt Anderson and stole second. Deion Sanders chopped an infield hit and Michael Coleman walked to load the bases before D.T. Cromer hit a foul sacrifice fly.

The rest: Aaron Boone charged Juan Encarnacion's bouncer, fielded the ball barehand and threw it to first base for the out.

Up next: Today against Boston at Fort Myers, Fla., 1:05 p.m. Elmer Dessens will face Pedro Martinez.
