Game report: Reds 4, Rangers 3

The arms: After starting-rotation candidates Scott Williamson and Chris Reitsma pitched three innings each, set-up relievers Scott Sullivan and Mark Wohlers each pitched a scoreless inning, helping Cincinnati (10-5) end its three-game losing streak.

The bats: Marty Malloy, a minor-league infielder who's not on the spring roster, helped sustain the Reds' three-run rally in the eighth inning with a bunt single that also prompted Mike Lamb's run-scoring throwing error. Michael Tucker doubled home the tying run before the Rangers couldn't quite turn a double play on Brandon Larson's grounder, scoring Tucker and giving the Reds the lead.

The rest: Hector Mercado, doomed to the minor leagues, helped himself in the ninth by picking off Jason Romano at first base.

Up next: Today against Detroit in Sarasota, 1:05 p.m. Rob Bell will oppose Tigers right-hander Steve Sparks.
