What to call The Wall

When a 30-foot-high wall is constructed in straightaway center at Cinergy Field, it's only a matter of time before Reds fans will adopt a nickname for Cincinnati's version of Fenway Park's Green Monster. Here are our early candidates. Tell us your favorite at redspoll@enquirer.com. Include your name and hometown/neighborhood.

Look at the changes

  • New Cinergy Field has views, grass, character
  • Photo gallery
  • Readers like tall wall

        • Green Monster Jr.: We're big on “Juniors” in this town.

        • Green Mile: It's a big wall; it was a long movie.

        • Green Giant: Ho-ho-ho, home run!

        • Mr. Green Jeans: Not even Captain Kangaroo could bounce over this thing.

        • The Great Wall: A precursor to Great American Ball Park.

        • Wall-y Szczerbiak: Miami has the same small-market mentality as the Reds.

        • Ronald Reagan Cross-County Wall: “Mr. Lindner, tear down that wall!”

        • Monster Mash: That's what it will take to hit one over.

        • Pink Floyd's “The Wall”: If you don't take B.P., you can't have any pudding. How can you have any pudding if you don't take B.P.?

        • Wall-Mart: You have to love the bargain-basement Reds.

        • Wall-Green's: Hit a home run, win some shampoo.

        • The Wall of Shame: Watch homer totals plummet.

        • The Wailing Wall: It won't be long before someone's complaining about it.

        • The Whaling Wall: It takes a whale of a shot to clear this baby.

        • The Olive Creature: To keep the Red Sox from suing over copyright infringement.

        • The Monolith: It's 2001. A huge wall appears. Coincidence?

        • The Red Monster: Paint it and keep it ad free.

        • The Flood Wall: Time to play up the river theme.

        • Flying Wall-enda: When a ball bounces off the top, it'll make playing center field a circus act.
