Harnisch rehab encouraging
By Chris Haft
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Dr. Tim Kremchek, the Reds' medical director, was encouraged by Pete Harnisch's condition when he examined the right-hander this week.
His shoulder strength was about the same as when he came off the disabled list (in June), said Kremchek.
From that point, Harnisch posted an 8-2 record with a 3.49 ERA. Kremchek said Harnisch's offseason goal would be to increase his strength and thus avoid further shoulder problems.
BROUSSARD ON THE MEND: Reds outfield prospect Ben Broussard is expected to be fully recovered by spring training after undergoing surgery Friday to remove a bone fragment from his right wrist.
Broussard, 24, missed six weeks during the regular season with a stress fracture in the wrist, which limited him to a .255 average with 14 home runs and 51 RBI in 87 games for Double-A Chattanooga. He tried playing in the Arizona Fall League but aggravated the injury and left the Grand Canyon Rafters with a .193 average and seven RBI after 17 games.
