As The Managers Turn: A Timeline

        • Oct. 2 — Jack McKeon fired.

        • Oct. 12 — Reds issue news release declaring that they had a “wish list” of 43 candidates and had scheduled interviews with 10-12 of them.

        • Oct. 30 — Reds receive permission from to interview Seattle manager Lou Piniella.

        • Oct. 31 — Piniella decides to stay with Seattle.

        • Nov. 1 — Reds conduct second interviews with Willie Randolph, Ron Oester and Bob Boone.

        • Nov. 2 — Reds offer Oester two-year contract with option for a third year; he refuses but expresses intent to make a counter-offer. Club management considers Oester's response a final “no” and proceed to other candidates. Randolph doesn't even consider the Reds' proposal seriously. Boone is told to wait overnight.

        • Nov. 3 — Bob Boone named Reds' 56th manager. (46th since 1900)

What do you think of the decision?
