Reds-Brewers Scouting Report

        • Records: Cincinnati 82-74, second place NL Central; Milwaukee 70-86, third place NL Central.

        • Where: County Stadium, Milwaukee.

        • When: 8:05 p.m. today; 7:05 p.m. Wednesday; 4:05 p.m. Thursday.

        • Radio: WLW-AM (700).

        • TV: Fox Sports Network, Wednesday.

        • Pitching matchups:

        Today, Steve Parris (12-15, 4.55 ERA) vs. Jamey Wright (6-8, 3.98);

        Wednesday, Rob Bell (7-8, 5.02) vs. Paul Rigdon (4-4, 4.52);

        Thursday, Elmer Dessens (10-5, 4.49) vs. Jeff D'Amico (12-6, 2.42).

        • The bats: Geoff Jenkins and Richie Sexson have combined to hit .309 with 29 homers and 80 RBI in 52 games since the latter joined Milwaukee from Cleveland. Overall, offense has been a problem for the Brewers, whose .245 team batting average ranks last in the majors.

        • The arms: D'Amico needs to pitch at least 5 2/3 innings to qualify for the league's earned-run average title. What he really might have to do is pitch a shutout, since he's 0.11 behind Arizona's Randy Johnson. D'Amico is 6-2 this year and 8-2 lifetime against NL Central teams.

        • The rest: This is the final series at County Stadium, which opened for the Braves in 1953. Fittingly, Milwaukee has won 10 of its last 12 games at home.
