Andres Galarraga, who missed the previous Reds series with a thumb injury, is at .300 with 24 homers and 84 RBI. Ex-Baltimore Oriole B.J. Surhoff is hitting .300 in 23 games since joining the Braves.
The arms:
Atlanta (yawn) woke up Sunday with the best ERA in the majors at 4.15. The Braves' effectiveness has been evenly balanced between the bullpen, which has a 3.90 ERA (142 earned runs/327 1/3 innings) and the starters, who own a 4.25 ERA (387 earned runs/819 innings).
Tom Glavine (17-6) leads the league in victories while Greg Maddux ranks among the top 10 in ERA (3.11, fourth), wins (14, tied for fifth), complete games (four, tied for fourth), strikeouts (147, ninth) and opponents' batting average (.248, 10th).
The rest: Though the Reds won two of three from Atlanta Aug. 7-9 at Cinergy Field, they have lost eight consecutive road series against the Braves, dating back to 1995. Cincinnati is 2-13 at Turner Field, including 0-6 last year.
The next victory for Braves manager Bobby Cox will be the 1,600th of his managerial career, breaking a tie with Tommy Lasorda for 14th place on the all-time list.
Andruw Jones didn't play Sunday, ending a 301-game streak that was second-longest in the majors behind Sammy Sosa. Jones had played every inning of every game this season.
