Bichette sheds goat horns
By Chris Haft
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Though the baseball gods are often cruel, they have a way of showering the downtrodden with sudden luck, as Dante Bichette was reminded Saturday.
Bichette's routine fly turned into a bases-loaded triple when Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Adrian Brown misplayed the ball, fueling a four-run eighth inning that sealed the Reds' 7-1 victory at Cinergy Field.
The win stopped the Reds' four-game losing streak and eased Bichette's psyche less than 24 hours after his fielding error generated the Pirates' go-ahead run in their series-opening triumph.
I guess that's the beautiful thing about this game you can go from goat to hero in one swing of the bat, Bichette said.
After collecting just four hits in 52 at-bats with runners in scoring position in their previous seven games, the Reds went 3-for-6 in those situations before a crowd of 34,370.
Maybe this is the start of something, Bichette said.
