Young: Reds fans louder in Chicago
By Chris Haft
The Cincinnati Enquirer
CHICAGO Dmitri Young could have been excused for thinking he was at Cinergy Field. Then again, he never heard the kind of cheers at home that he received Friday at Wrigley Field.
A large contingent of Cincinnati fans joined the Wrigley Field sellout crowd of 40,586 that watched the Reds beat the Chicago Cubs 6-4.
The Reds rooters turned up their volume during Cincinnati's six-run rally in the eighth inning and saved their loudest yells for Young, whose two-run homer erased Chicago's 4-3 edge.
Asked if he heard the fans, Young said: Oh, my God! I tell you what, I heard them better here than in Cincinnati!
Was that surprising?
Actually, it was, Young said. It seemed like the die-hard Cincinnati fans aren't in Cincinnati.
Immediately realizing his remark might offend some of the Reds' loyal supporters, Young added: You can print that. It's the truth.
When I hit the home run, I didn't believe how loud it was! I was like, "Hey, where am I?'
