Reds-Cubs Scouting Report
The series: Reds (56-57, second place in the National League Central) vs. Chicago Cubs (53-60, third place in the NL Central).

The bats: Sammy Sosa, the trade controversy behind him, is batting .313 with 35 home runs and 105 RBI. Mark Grace, who struggled early, is hitting .296 with 11 HRs and 63 RBI. The Cubs have added Rondell White (.302, 11 HRs, 54 RBI).
The arms: Today RHP Rob Bell (5-6, 5.18 ERA) vs. RHP Kevin Tapani (8-8, 4.42);
Saturday RHP Scott Williamson (4-7, 3.61) vs. RHP Ruben Quevedo (1-3, 6.28);
Sunday RHP Steve Parris (5-14, 5.22) vs. TBA.
The Cubs have a 4.96 team ERA. The Reds miss Chicago's best starter, Jon Leiber, who is 10-5. Rick Aguilera has been successful on 27 of 34 saves chances, but his ERA is 5.31.
The rest: The Cubs could catch the Reds in the Central with a sweep. The Cubs have won 13 of 19, but they return after a 3-4 road trip.
