Ken Griffey Sr. briefly visited the team Monday after being released from Good Samaritan Hospital, having learned the chest discomfort he suffered early in Sunday's game was probably gas pains.
Griffey said doctors weren't sure what his ailment was, but the pain subsided after he took an antacid.
The fact that Griffey's chest hurt for an hour prompted doctors to hospitalize him overnight.
They just wanted to make sure (it wasn't heart trouble), and I don't blame them, said Griffey, adding he probably won't resume his duties as bench coach until the team begins its six-game trip to Chicago and Milwaukee on Friday.
Griffey seemed more inconvenienced by the left shoulder surgery he underwent last Friday.
It was originally expected to be a simple arthroscopic procedure, but Griffey said doctors had to remove a half-inch to an inch of his shoulder blade and insert two pins in his labrum. His arm will remain in a sling for six to eight weeks.
