Scouts keep busy at Cinergy
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Reds general manager Jim Bowden's top advisers Bob Boone, Leland Maddox, Gene Bennett, Larry Barton Jr., Bob Zuk and Gary Hughes were all at Cinergy Field Tuesday night.
Scouts from other clubs were at Cinergy as well. The Reds are likely to make a trade before the July 31 non-waiver deadline.
I don't think anything will happen tonight, assistant general manager Doc Rodgers said Tuesday.
The Seattle Mariners are looking for a hitter. Michael Tucker is reportedly one of the players targeted.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are looking for a fifth starter until Todd Stottlemyer returns. Steve Parris is reportedly one of the players of their list.
There's been a lot of talk, Rodgers said. A lot of things percolating.
