Fernandez may miss next start
By John Fay
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Starter Osvaldo Fernandez had to leave Sunday's game after he jammed his right elbow while batting in the third inning. He is listed as day-to-day.
He may or may not make his next start, Reds medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek said.
Fernandez returned to the major leagues this season for the first time since 1997. He had two surgeries on that right elbow.
The ligament was fine, Kremchek said. "
Fernandez was called up from Triple-A Louisville May13 to take Pete Harnisch's place in the rotation.
Fernandez, 31, had gone seven innings and allowed only one run in each of his last two starts.
He was off to another good start. He allowed two hits and no runs through three innings.
It's nothing serious, Fernandez said. I'll be able to make my next start.
The Reds may skip him as a precaution. They have a day off Thursday before starting a three-game series in Cleveland.
