Reds-Astros Scouting Report

        • The series: Reds (18-15, second place in NL Central) at Houston Astros (14-19, fourth in NL Central).

        • Where: Enron Field

        • When: Today, Sunday and Monday, 8:05 p.m. ET; Saturday 3:05 p.m. ET

        • Radio: WLW-AM (700)

        • TV: Fox Sports Net (Today, Saturday, Monday); ESPN (Sunday)

        • The bats: Veterans Jeff Bagwell (.314, 10 homers) and Ken Caminiti (.307, 30 RBI) remain potent. One of the team's top producers has been Richard Hidalgo (10 homers, 30 RBI). All-Star second baseman Craig Biggio is hitting only .261.

        • The arms: Today: Denny Neagle (4-0, 3.68 ERA) vs. Octavio Dotel (1-3, 5.77); Saturday: Osvaldo Fernandez (0-0, 0.00) vs. Chris Holt (1-5, 6.96); Sunday: Steve Parris (2-4, 5.14) vs. Scott Elarton (1-0, 7.40); Monday: Ron Villone (4-1, 4.19) vs. Shane Reynolds (5-0, 2.96).

Reynolds' ERA ranks seventh in the NL. Jose Lima (1-5, 9.53 ERA) will skip a turn in an attempt to improve his stuff. The move to Enron Field, a homer haven, hasn't helped the pitchers, whose 5.66 ERA is 14th in the NL.

        • The rest: More than three homers per game have been hit at Enron — 54 in 15 games. The Astros are 5-10 at home, though they're coming off their first back-to-back Enron wins.
