Reds-Rockies scouting report
The series: Reds (3-3) second place in the National League Central) vs. Colorado Rockies (2-4 fifth place in the NL West).
Where: Coors Field.
When: Today at 3:05 p.m., Tuesday at 9:05 p.m. and Wednesday at 3:05 p.m.
Radio: WLW (700 AM).
TV: Fox Sports Net Wednesday.
The bats: This is a new look Rockies team. Gone are Dante Bichette and Vinny Castilla, who combined to average 68 home runs and 247 RBI the last four years. Larry Walker, who won the batting title with a .379 average last year, is still the main man. Tom Goodwin adds speed at the top of lineup. Jeff Cirillo and Todd Helton provide pop behind Walker.
The arms: Today RHP Steve Parris (0-1, 9.00) vs. RHP Rolando Arrojo (0-0, 4.76).
Tuesday LHP Ron Villone (1-0, 1.59) vs. LHP Brian Bohanon (0-0, 6.75)
Wednesday RHP Pete Harnisch vs. RHP Masato Yoshii (0-1, 4.76).
Yoshii had a 4.40 ERA last year. That's the best of the starting rotation. The bullpen's numbers aren't any better. Through five games, the Rockies ' ERA was a respectable 3.62. But the Rockies starters didn't post a win in their road trip.
The rest: The Reds got rolling offensively in Colorado last year. The Reds outscored the Rockies 36-17 in a three-game sweep in a series in mid-May. That was part of streak in which the Reds won eight of nine. Former Red Jeffery Hammonds missed the last two games with a strained groin.
