Reds (1-2) vs. Cubs (1-4)
Where: Cinergy Field, Cincinnati
When: Today, 7:05p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1:15p.m.
Radio: WLW-AM (700)
TV: Fox Sports Network, today and Saturday
Pitching matchups: Today, Pete Harnisch (0-0, 4.50 ERA) vs. Andrew Lorraine (0-0, 6.75); Saturday, Rob Bell (major-league debut) vs. Kevin Tapani (0-1, 11.25); Sunday, Denny Neagle (0-0, 1.50) vs. Scott Downs (major-league debut).
The bats: Ken Griffey Jr. isn't the only superstar who has started slowly. Sammy Sosa is hitting .105 (2-for-19) with one RBI and six strikeouts. Henry Rodriguez (.118) isn't doing much better. No wonder the Cubs have scored just 14 runs in five games. Shane Andrews, the former Montreal Expo, is hitting .353 while perennial standout Mark Grace is at .294.
The arms: Cincinnati will open the series against left-hander Lorraine, who had an 8.64 ERA against them in two starts last year. Tapani also faced the Reds only twice but had a 2.45 ERA. Veteran reliever Rick Aguilera, who's unscored upon in three appearances this year, has the club's only save.
The rest: The Reds were 8-5 against the Cubs last year, including 3-3 at Cinergy Field.
