Reds Game Report

Reds 9, Pirates 7

        • THE ARMS: Dennys Reyes earned his first spring save and extended his scoreless streak to six games and 6ô innings.

        • THE BATS: Pokey Reese's double that skipped over third baseman Aramis Ramirez's glove scored Hal Morris with two outs in the eighth inning to break a 7-7 tie. Alex Ochoa's RBI single scored Reese to cap the four-run rally. Eddie Taubensee singled, doubled and homered, all off left-handed pitchers. Ken Griffey Jr. also homered in the first inning off former Red Pete Schourek. It was Junior's sixth HR of the spring and third in his last five games.

        • THE REST: Manager Jack McKeon appreciated the comeback win. “That's two days in a row,” he said. “It sort of resembled what we did last year.”

The Reds overcame deficits in 45 of their 96 victories in 1999.

        • UP NEXT: Today against Toronto, 1:05p.m. Right-hander Bobby Munoz, a candidate for one of the openings on the pitching staff, will oppose the Blue Jays' Kelvim Escobar. Fox Sports Net will air the game.
