Parris has good work on Reds' day off
Pitcher goes 7 innings; has 2 starts left
BY JOHN FAY
The Cincinnati Enquirer
SARASOTA, Fla. Steve Parris spent the Reds' off-day Tuesday on the mound working hard. He couldn't have been happier about it.
Parris had a solid outing in a minor-league game. He pitched seven innings, allowing seven hits and a run. He threw 87 pitches.
But the biggest thing was getting to seven innings.
Going seven this early is a good sign, Parris said.
The seven hits in seven innings were not a big deal.
We're not concerned
with results today, pitching coach Don Gullett said. He's working on his changeup, and he's thrown some good ones.
Parris' major concern is getting the changeup where it needs to be over his final two spring starts.
I've got 14 more innings or whatever, he said. As long as it's ready by April 6.
