REDS REPORT
Reds 12, Twins 5
THE ARMS: Set-up relievers Scott Sullivan and Gabe White, who have quietly enjoyed strong springs, turned in scoreless appearances to whittle their ERAs to 1.23 and 2.00, respectively.
THE BATS: Dmitri Young's RBI single in the fifth and two-run double in the sixth helped the Reds pull away after they scored three unearned runs in the third and fourth innings.
Dmitri keeps knocking the heck out of the ball, manager Jack McKeon said.
Since beginning Grapefruit League play with an 0-for-11 skid, right fielder Dante Bichette is hitting .524 (11-for-21).
None-roster outfielder Brooks Kieschnick homered leading off a four-run sixth that made it 9-4. It was Kieschnick's second homer of the spring.
THE REST: The allure of Ken Griffey Jr., who didn't make the trip to Fort Myers, helped the Reds draw their fourth consecutive sellout crowd. The first two were at home at Sarasota's Ed Smith Stadium, followed by Sunday's gathering against Pittsburgh at Bradenton (5,939) and Monday's at Hammond Stadium in the Lee County Sports Complex (7,621).
UP NEXT: The final split-squad double-header of the spring will unfold today. After one group of Reds faces Philadelphia in a 1:05 p.m. game at Clearwater's Jack Russell Stadium, another will confront Minnesota in Sarasota at 7:05. Osvaldo Fernandez starts the day game against Phillies left-hander Randy Wolf before Pete Harnisch opposes ex-Astro Sean Bergman at night.
