Deion could play today

Having passed his on-field tests in Sunday's simulated game, outfielder Deion Sanders could make his exhibition debut today against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Manager Jack McKeon said that he expected to put Sanders on the traveling squad for the split-squad game in Clearwater. The Reds also play Minnesota at home tonight.

Recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery performed in January, Sanders will receive gradually increased game activity. “We're not going to push him,” McKeon said. “He just needs some time.” —Chris Haft
