THE ARMS: Reliever Scott Winchester (0-1) gave up a wind-blown solo home run to Warren Morris. It was the first run Winchester has allowed in five appearances, covering 5ô innings, this spring. Danny Graves allowed no hits and struck out two in the eighth inning.
It was a well pitched game on both sides. Graves was very sharp today. We just didn't get our offense going, Reds manager Jack McKeon said. But hell, that's spring training.
THE BATS: Third baseman Aaron Boone hit his first home run in a game this spring, off Mark Leiter in the fifth inning, to tie the game. It was the only extra-base hit among the Reds' five hits.
THE REST: Ken Griffey Jr. went 0-for-3 but turned in a defensive gem, running down a fly ball in the right center field gap by Aramis Ramirez.
UP NEXT: The Reds will play the Twins in Fort Myers at 1:05 p.m. today. Right-hander Mark Portugal will oppose right-hander Joe Mays. McKeon said Barry Larkin, Griffey and Eddie Taubensee will not make the trip to Fort Myers.
