REDS EXHIBITION REPORT
Twins 5, Reds 3; Orioles 6, Reds 4
THE ARMS: Starters Ron Villone and Mark Portugal each lasted three innings. Both walks Heath Murray issued to Minnesota proved costly: One preceded Cristian Guzman's fourth-inning RBI single; the other opened the Twins' two-run fifth.
THE BATS: Manager Jack McKeon liked seeing the Reds manufacture a run against Minnesota in the fourth inning, when Pokey Reese singled with two outs, stole second base and scored on Barry Larkin's single. That's what we're going to have to do, McKeon said. We're not going to sit back and wait for the three-run homer.
THE REST: Chris Sexton, a St. Xavier and Miami graduate, singled twice after replacing Larkin in the sixth inning against Minnesota.
UP NEXT: Right-hander Steve Parris will start against Texas ace Rick Helling at Port Charlotte today.
