Griffey's hamstring hurts

The Cincinnati Enquirer

SARASOTA, Fla. — Reds center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. is expected to play in today's split-squad exhibition opener against the Minnesota Twins despite mild discomfort in his right hamstring Thursday.

“It's nothing to be alarmed or worried about,” said Dr. Tim Kremchek, the Reds' team physician. Kremchek said extra treatment before workouts and games should solve the problem.

Griffey played four innings of Cincinnati's intrasquad game, grounding out twice and drawing a walk in three plate appearances.
