SARASOTA, Fla. Ken Griffey Jr. is getting a little tired of being Ken Griffey Jr. Being Junior these days means every event is a media event.
Tuesday was his second official day as a Red. Griffey hit some balls off a tee, then took a little batting practice at the Reds' spring training facility.
Pretty mundane stuff. But a half-dozen mini-cameras recorded every second of it.
I'm not used to that, he said. I'm not used to so much attention.
It heat up even more today when Reds position players began work outs at 9:45 a.m.
Griffey looked sharp in the cage.
And he seemed more at ease with his teammates Tuesday. There was plenty of banter.
I'm still that new guy, Griffey said. I'm still learning their names. ... Hopefully in a couple of days, I'll know everybody.
