Good news, Jr.: earrings allowed
SARASOTA, Fla. Last year, goateed Greg Vaughn helped end the Reds' ban on facial hair. Now, Ken Griffey Jr. may be doing the same for earrings.

The club announced Monday that they have dropped their ban on earrings. That's quite a departure; in 1994, then-principal owner Marge Schott sparked controversy by saying only fruits wear earrings.
General Manager Jim Bowden said the change wasn't just for Griffey, who wears an earring.
This was a decision that was made in the offseason, Bowden said. (Chief Operating Officer) John Allen and I had a lot of discussions and felt it was an archaic rule. As long as it's a stud and doesn't go below the earlobe. It's just like the facial hair an outdated rule.
