Parris, Reds go to arbitration
The Associated Press
TAMPA, Fla. Reds pitcher Steve Parris had what might be the first of five salary arbitration hearings for the Reds this month.
The 32-year-old right-hander asked a panel Wednesday for a raise from $275,000 to $1,825,000. The Reds countered at $1.4 million
Arbitrators Richard Kaplan, Dan Brent and William Holley were expected to issue their decision today.
Parris was 11-4 with a 3.50 ERA all career bests in 21 starts and one relief appearance. He was the last pitcher cut in spring training, then was brought up May 3 and became one of the Reds' most effective starters.
Outfielders Mike Cameron and Alex Ochoa, right-hander Scott Sullivan and outfielder Dmitri Young also have hearings scheduled in the next 11/2 weeks.
