Concepcion, Parker make ballot

Dave Concepcion and Dave Parker, two other players whose careers are closely linked to the Reds, joined Tony Perez on the Hall of Fame ballot, though neither is expected to gain induction.

Concepcion spent 1970-88 with the Reds, making nine All-Star teams and winning five Gold Glove awards for fielding excellence. While compiling a .267 lifetime batting average, he exceeded .300 three times in an era when relatively few shortstops were offensive threats.

Parker was widely regarded as baseball's best player in the late 1970s with the Pittsburgh Pirates and remained a dangerous hitter through his tenure with the Reds (1984-87) and beyond. His .290 career average, 2,712 hits, 339 homers and 1,493 RBI from 1973-91 compare favorably with many Hall of Famers.
