Dayton stadium to be Fifth Third Field

DAYTON, Ohio — The city's new minor-league baseball stadium will be called Fifth Third Field.

Dan Sadlier, president of Fifth Third Bank, said Thursday the bank reached an agreement with the Dayton Dragons for naming rights.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Fifth Third said it made a 20-year commitment to the team.

The Dragons will be the Reds' Class A affiliate and will begin play next April in the Midwest League. Construction has begun on the $23 million downtown stadium that will seat 7,250.

The team, owned by Mandalay Sports Entertainment, played in Rockford, Ill., as the Rockford Reds last season.
