Reds' shortstop Barry Larkin won his ninth Silver Slugger Award on Thursday. The awards are voted on by major-league managers and coaches, who are asked to pick the best players at each position based solely on offense.

The National League team has Jeff Bagwell (Houston) at first, Edgardo Alfonzo (New York Mets) at second, Larkin at shortstop, Chipper Jones (Atlanta) at third, Piazza at catcher, Mike Hampton (Houston) at pitcher and Sammy Sosa (Chicago Cubs), Larry Walker (Colorado) and Vladimir Guerrero (Montreal) in the outfield.
The American League team has Carlos Delgado (Toronto) at first, Roberto Alomar (Cleveland) at second, Alex Rodriguez (Seattle) at shortstop, Dean Palmer (Detroit) at third, Ivan Rodriguez (Texas) at catcher, Rafael Palmeiro (Texas) at designated hitter and Griffey, Manny Ramirez (Cleveland) and Shawn Green (Toronto) in the outfield.
Silver Sluggers are awarded by Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the maker of Louisville Slugger bats.
