McKeon's return may be imminent

Baseball protocol may have become a factor in the Reds' negotiations on a proposed contract extension for manager Jack McKeon, which means that the club's silence about his status could end today.
McKeon did not return numerous phone messages left at his Elon College, N.C. home Wednesday, and the Reds would not comment on the status of talks. All I can tell you is, we're not announcing anything today, a club spokesman said.
Teams are discouraged from making significant announcements during the Series. Thus, given the Yankees' sweep Wednesday night, an announcement could be forthcoming.
Evidence suggests that McKeon will receive a one-year contract, since he and Reds Managing Executive John Allen have maintained talks this week.
