Workers scramble to convert stadium
One of the last Cinergy Field conversions in history was one of the fastest as crews scrambled Sunday night to turn the Bengals field into the Reds diamond for today's playoff game with the Mets.
Work began on the process, which usually takes about 24 hours, not long after the Bengals' 38-10 loss to the Rams ended at about 4p.m.
A weary John Allen, the Reds managing executive, dressed in shorts, no socks, windbreaker and a ballcap, oversaw the conversion before going to his office to catch the first pitch of the Reds' game against the Brewers.
It's going to take us about 18 hours to change it, and that's as about as fast as you can do it, Allen said.
