Scouting report: Reds at Brewers

        • Where: Milwaukee County Stadium.

        • When: 8:05 tonight, 1:19p.m. Saturday, 4:05p.m. Sunday.

        • Records: Reds 95-64, tied for first in NL Central; Brewers 72-85, fifth in NL Central.

        • Radio: WLW-AM (700).

        • TV: Fox Sports Ohio today and Sunday; Channel 19 Saturday.

At the plate
Generating offense isn't a problem for the Brewers, who rank fifth in the league in hitting (.274). Interim manager Jim Lefebvre can start as many as three .300 hitters, including Jeff Cirillo, Geoff Jenkins and Dave Nilsson. Jeromy Burnitz (33 homers, 101 RBI) is among the league's top power hitters.

On the mound
        • Today: Denny Neagle (9-5, 4.44 ERA) vs. Scott Karl (11-11, 4.74).

        • Saturday: Juan Guzman (6-2, 2.64) vs. Kyle Peterson (3-7, 4.48).

        • Sunday: Pete Harnisch (15-10, 3.78) vs. either Steve Woodard (11-8) or Bill Pulsipher (5-6, 6.05).

Karl and Woodard are each 1-1 this year against Cincinnati. Relief ace Bob Wickman has set a franchise record with 37 saves. Former Reds right-hander David Weathers, now exclusively a reliever, has a 7-4 record. Brewers pitching is 14th in the league in ERA.

Outlook
The Brewers, who helped the Reds last weekend by defeating Houston twice in three games, are just as capable of stunning Cincinnati. The Reds are 5-4 against Milwaukee.
