Saturday's trades at a glance




        A look at the deals made Saturday before baseball's non-waiver trade deadline of midnight EDT:

        Kansas City Royals traded RHP Kevin Appier (9-9, 4.87 ERA) to the Oakland Athletics for RHP Blake Stein (0-0, 16.88), RHP Brad Rigby (3-4, 4.33) and minor league RHP Jeff D'Amico.

        Oakland Athletics traded RHP Billy Taylor (1-5, 26 saves, 3.98) to the New York Mets for RHPs Jason Isringhausen (1-3, 1 save, 6.41) and Greg McMichael (1-1, 4.82).

        New York Mets traded OF Brian McRae (.221, 8 HRs, 36 RBIs), LHP Rigo Beltran (1-1, 3.48) and minor league OF Thomas Johnson to the Colorado Rockies for OF Darryl Hamilton (.303, 4, 24) and LHP Chuck McElroy (3-1, 6.20).

        St. Louis Cardinals traded infielder Shawon Dunston (.307, 5, 25) to the New York Mets for minor league infielder Craig Paquette.

        Chicago Cubs traded left-hander Terry Mulholland (6-6, 5.15) and infielder Jose Hernandez (.272, 15, 43) to the Atlanta Braves for minor league pitchers Micah Bowie, Ruben Quevedo and a minor league player to be named.

        Baltimore Orioles traded pitcher Juan Guzman (5-9, 4.18) and cash to the Cincinnati Reds for minor league pitchers B.J. Ryan and Jacobo Sequea.

        San Diego Padres traded utilityman Jim Leyritz (.239, 8, 21) to the New York Yankees for minor league RHP Geraldo Padua.

        Detroit Tigers traded right-hander Bryce Florie (2-1, 4.62) to the Boston Red Sox for minor-league left-hander Mike Maroth.

        Florida Marlins traded minor league RHP Brandon Villafuerte to the Detroit Tigers for minor league RHP Mike Drumright.
