Reds sale pleases NL president

If the National League president has his way, Carl Lindner and his two partners won't have trouble being approved as the Reds' new principal owners at the Major League Baseball owners meetings June 9-10.
NL President Len Coleman gave Lindner, Bill Reik and George Strike the three limited partners who purchased control of the Reds from Marge Schott on Tuesday a resounding endorsement Wednesday.
Carl Lindner, Bill Reik and George Strike have been magnificent limited partners in the Reds, Coleman said, and with the promise of their stewardship, the future of baseball in Cincinnati is very bright for all the fans.
Lindner can't take over ownership of the Reds officially until major-league owners approve his purchase of the club at their June meetings in Pittsburgh. But because baseball had forced Schott to sell, the vote should be a formality.
Lindner's attorney, Jim Evans, said, Major League Baseball has been very supportive of our ownership.
