Twins 7, Reds 3

        • Record: 15-16

        • The arms: Steve Avery pitched fairly well, considering three errors contributed to all of Minnesota's runs. Avery, the Reds' No.3 starter, stranded three Twins in scoring position during his six innings. Rookie Scott Williamson finally looked human, yielding two-run doubles to Brent Gates and Doug Mientkiewicz in the seventh.

        • The bats: Sean Casey is ready. He hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, batting .359 with nine RBI in that span. The Reds had at least one hit in each of the first eight innings but stranded 12 baserunners.

        • The rest: Sloppy. Third baseman Aaron Boone's error and shortstop Barry Larkin's throwing error helped Minnesota score twice off Avery in the third. In the fifth, Mike Cameron broke for third base as Twins starter Mike Lincoln tried to pick him off and was out easily.

        • Up next: Today against Triple-A Indianapolis, 11 a.m. Denny Neagle will pitch for Indianapolis. Every Reds relief pitcher is expected to get some work.
