Rangers 6, Reds 4

        • Record: 15-15

        • The arms: Jason Bere (five innings, four runs, six hits) might have experienced a better fate, but third baseman Mark Lewis' error opening the second inning led to three unearned runs.

        • The bats: Since returning to the lineup with his yellow-dyed hair and goatee, Dmitri Young has hit safely in all five games he has played, batting .571 (8-for-14) with two homers, one double, one triple and seven RBI.

        • The rest: Greg Vaughn, used as designated hitter, was ejected by home plate umpire Tim Welke after being called out on strikes in the second inning. Manager Jack McKeon briefly left the dugout to defend Vaughn, but the argument quickly cooled.

        • Up next: Today vs. Minnesota in Fort Myers, Fla., 1:05 p.m. Steve Avery faces Minnesota's Mike Lincoln.
