        • The bats: Mark Sweeney hit a pinch-hit home run in the fifth, his second of the spring ... Dmitri Young was 2-for-3, with a double ... Eddie Taubensee singled and had two RBI.

        • The arms: Steve Parris pitched five innings, allowing two runs on two hits. Both runs were the result of Dmitri Young's error ... Scott Williamson ran his string of scoreless appearances to 10 and saved his third game. His ERA is 0.57.

        • The gloves: Pokey Reese made a nice play, diving to his left and then throwing out Shane Spencer in the third ... Young was charged with his first error of the spring on a fly ball by Derek Jeter in fifth. Chuck Knoblauch scored on the play and Jeter ended up on third.

        • Up next: Reds go to Clearwater today for a 1:05 p.m. game with the Philadelphia Phillies. Pete Harnisch (0-0, 6.75 ERA) faces Curt Schilling (1-1, 4.64).
