The Cincinnati Reds
SCOUTING REPORT
Reds vs. Braves

Monday, July 27, 1998

Where: Cinergy Field

When: 7:05 p.m. today; 7:05 p.m. Tuesday; 7:05 p.m. Wednesday; 12:35 p.m. Thursday

Records: Reds 46-58, sixth place in National League Central; Braves 68-36, first place in National League East.

Radio: WLW-AM (700)

TV: Wednesday on Fox Sports Ohio.

At the plate

Braves pitchers get all the attention, but these guys can hit, too. Chipper Jones (.320, 26 HR, 83 RBI) and Andres Galarraga (.300, 33 HR, 85 RBI) are having monster years, and Javy Lopez (.291, 21 HR, 71 RBI) isn't far behind, plus you have Ryan Klesko, Michael Tucker and Andruw Jones (if he decides to play hard) to deal with.

On the mound

- Today: LHP Mike Remlinger (6-11, 4.41) vs. Tom Glavine (14-4, 2.70)

- Tuesday: RHP Pete Harnisch (7-5, 3.32) vs. RHP Kevin Millwood (11-5, 4.19)

- Wednesday: TBA vs. RHP John Smoltz (9-2, 3.20)

- Thursday: RHP Steve Parris (1-1, 4.40) vs. LHP Denny Neagle (10-9, 3.60). Outlook

The Reds don't get Greg Maddux, but that's the only break. They come home from a seven-day, three-city road trip to face the Braves, who are the league's best team again. The Reds have played the Braves only twice this year, losing both games at Cinergy Field. The Reds are home for only four days. Then they go to Florida for three games, followed by their only trip to Atlanta (for three games).
