The Giants have lost five of their past six and 11 of 13 since the All-Star break. Offense has been a big problem, including an 8-1 loss to the Cardinals Thursday. When they score four or more runs they are 43-14, but when they score three or fewer they are 11-34. Since the All-Star break they are averaging 3.5 runs per game. Left fielder Barry Bonds has 20 homers and 68 RBI but is hitting only .272, while second baseman Jeff Kent is just 4-for-41 in 11 games since coming off the disabled list.

Outlook
The last time the Reds traveled to San Francisco (early June), the Giants swept three and sent Cincinnati skidding to 19 losses in 22 games. The Giants were in first place in the N.L. West then, and Reds manager Jack McKeon said he thought they were the best team in that division. But San Francisco has slipped to second place, 12 games behind the Padres, though the Giants are a contender in the wild-card race.
