The Reds were reprimanded, but not fined, for allowing Pete Rose to speak to a group of minor leaguers two weeks ago.
Rose, who is banned from baseball, avoided the major league clubhouse but gave a pep talk to the minor leaguers, including son Pete Jr.
There was talk that the Reds might be fined, but that didn't happen.
''It was an honest mistake,'' Reds General Manager Jim Bowden said. ''I'm glad it's behind us.''
Reds Managing Executive John Allen admitted the club was in error and called it an honest mistake. The Reds sent a written report soon after the violation.
''We made it very clear what happened, and I told them ultimately it was my fault,'' Allen said.
Major League Baseball accepted the club's explanation, spokesman Rich Levin told the Associated Press.
