GAME REPORT
Twins 2, Reds 1

spring training

  • Where: Fort Myers, Fla.

  • Reds record: 9-13

  • Winning pitcher: Travis Miller (2-1).

  • Losing pitcher: Pete Harnisch (1-2)

  • The washout: The first of the Reds split squad game vs. the New York Yankees was wiped out by monsoon-like rainstorm at Sarasota. The game was not only one of the biggest draws of the spring, it was supposed to be the first game on Fox Sports Ohio.

  • The dinger: Jon Nunnally curved one around the foul pole in right-field for solo home run in the fourth inning. The opposite-field shot was Nunnally's first of the spring. Nunnally also drove a double into the right-center field gap in the fifth.

  • The debut: Melvin Nieves made his debut with the Reds. He was 0-for-2 with a walk.

  • Today's game: vs. Boston Red Sox at Sarasota, 7:05 p.m.

  • Today's starters: LHP Steve Cooke vs. RHP Bret Saberhagen.
