SARASOTA, Fla. - Barry Larkin is ''doing unbelievable,'' said Reds medical director Tim Kremchek, and is progressing so far ahead of schedule, even the physical therapists are impressed.
Kremchek said Larkin, who had surgery last week to repair a disk problem in his neck, ''is improving faster than we thought he would. He's making tremendous strides, improving everything. He's working his tail off, and he's itching to get back and be a part of this team.''
Kremchek said Larkin reports no pain and has ''good motion and feeling. His motion is very free.''
Larkin will be back in Reds' camp Saturday and may begin taking infield and batting practice by opening day, just 12 days away.
