The Reds signed free agent pitchers David West and Mike Walker to minor-league contracts.
West, a 15-year veteran of professional baseball, spent last season in Japan, going 8-5 with a 6.38 ERA in 19 games. The left-hander last played in the majors in 1996, posting a 2-2 record with a 4.76 ERA in seven appearances (six starts) for the Phillies.
West, 33, has spent nine years in the majors, compiling a 31-38 record and a 4.58 ERA. He appeared in the American League Championship Series with Minnesota in 1991 and in the NLCS with Philadelphia in 1993.
Walker, 31, was 9-6 with a 2.98 ERA in a team-high 55 games last season for Triple-A Indianapolis and has spent most of his career in the minors.
The Reds invited West to their major-league spring training camp, but Walker will attend minor-league camp.
